E3 2010: Here We Come
As in past years, E3 is once again here and the LA Convention Center will be hosting the event. Bigger than ever, the ESA expects between 41,000 and 45,000 people wandering the show floors. Those numbers sound great except for the weary press trying to get to their next appointment. Gone are the talks of E3 downsizing--with booths and budgets returning to the massive budgets that caused the industry to downscale the show in the past. That happened just a few years ago but with the expected audience, it seems like a bad dream.
Since my dad passed away the day before I was scheduled to leave for E3 2007, this show has taken on even more emotional baggage for me. Though E3 was in July that yearn, I still will think of him each step I take during our coverage this year. As always, our coverage is dedicated to the memory of Billy Kent Rutherford.
We have some great coverage lined up for you this week and in the coming weeks. We have teamed up with TouchMic's incredible MityMic product to bring you some great audio coverage of E3 2009. Be on the lookout for new interviews during the show.
In addition, traveling to the show is even easier thanks to our friends at Tom Bihn. We are traveling in style with the Aeronaut and the Imago. Unfortunately for the rest of the staff, they will have to struggle with their own luggage and bags to navigate LA and E3. I, on the other hand, will be doing it with style and ease.
We will be on hand all week to deliver you the news and coverage from all the press conferences: Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, EA, Ubisoft, and Activision. In addition, once the show doors open, we may not sleep for the rest of the week. Stay tuned for an incredible week as we see the latest and greatest. I am confident this year will be a big year for the industry.
