M3: My Morning Musings - 3 Big Games Fall Flat
Assassin’s Creed Unity released with a slew of game breaking bugs, NPC’s talking over the story, players falling through floors, NPC’s missing their skin textures, horrible pop-in, framerate issues, and more. The PC and PS4 have seen 3 patches since the game has been released--with the Xbox One only getting one patch. The issues still have not been fixed.
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is a game with over 7 million active subscribers. Releasing this fifth expansion, Blizzard still was not ready to deal with what happened. First off, they had a DDOS attack on their game servers during day one. This caused strain on the servers. But some queues were as long as 8 hours to get into the game. Once players got in, and out of the new starting area, the lag was so bad, that the game was unplayable. Blizzard said they were caught off guard by the large number of players who were trying to play Warlords of Draenor.
Hey Blizz, you should know by now numbers spike at your launches and you should be ready! There are still queues to log in to most servers that range from 30 minutes to 2 hours or more all day long.
3 Big games with major problems. What the heck is going on here? Is it time for Publishers and Developers to quit sticking to dates and worry about putting a game out when it is done?
