Borderlands The Pre-Sequel First Look
Players: 1 to 4 Player Game | Genre: FPS
Though it hasn’t been announced to have happened like this, it would appear that some ambitious DLC for Borderlands 2 grew so big that it spawned its own game. Players become part of Handsome Jack’s crew and assist him in his rise to power by taking over the Pandora moon. Claptrap, everyone’s favorite robot, also is part of the group and you even get to play as him for the first time in the history of the series. Also part of the playable characters are Athena, part of the Crimson Lance in Borderlands 1, Wilhelm, one of the early bosses of Borderlands 2, and Nisha, Sheriff of Lynchwood from Borderlands 2.
One of the new gameplay elements seen in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is oxygen. You will actually use oxygen as you wander certain areas of the Pandora’s moon. Makes sense since there wouldn’t be oxygen in these areas. This will require players to seek out ozkits that contain oxygen to replenish their supply. The cool part about having oxygen is you can harness it for more than just breathing. You can use the oxygen to perform double jumps or pound the ground like Super Mario would do. Of course, Mario doesn’t get “phat lewts” like people in Borderlands do. You can expect oodles and oodles of guns to pick up.
If you want more Borderlands, this is definitely going to make you happy. While new play mechanics, like oxygen, are a welcome addition, they are not completely game changing. That said, they do provide a new fun wrinkle to the already great formula. Developed by 2K Australia and closely monitored by Gearbox Studios, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is headed this fall to the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Strangely absent are the Xbox One and PlayStation 4… Despite this, it is looking like a blast to play and we can’t wait to see more.
