Spider-Man 3
Publisher: Activision
Players: 1 Player Game |
Genre: Action
Release Date: 05/04/07
Ever since I was a kid, I have loved the amazing adventures of Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Now with the third movie on the way, and sadly rumored to be the last, Activision and Developer Treyarch are once again bringing players the videogame version of the upcoming film. Like the prior games based on the film, this title will follow the plot of the movie. This means we will get to see plenty of Venom Suit Spidey in action!
Taking a similar approach to the sandbox games that have recently been released for Spider-Man titles, Treyarch is looking to refine the experience while still retelling the movie’s plot with other events to make the game a much longer and satisfying experience. The current plan is to include somewhere around ten plot threads. This means we will not only see The Sandman and the New Green Goblin, in the movie portion of the game’s plot, but a host of other famous bad guys from the Spider-Man universe like the Scorpion. The other plot threads won’t be required to complete the game but something special will happen for players who complete a hundred percent of the story.

Of course, for Spider-Man fans, the biggest draw of Spider-Man 3 is the Venom suit. Not only is the costume of Spider-Man’s biggest rival, but this is the story of how the suit attempted to consume Peter Parker. We all know the suit is evil but while you have it on, our web slinger will get some new ways to play. Spider-Man will be much stronger and be equipped with a Rage Meter, while wearing the Black Suit, This will give you a deadly attack once it is filled. Spider-Man will also move faster in his Black Suit. But since Spider-Man 3 follows the events of the movie, Peter will only have the suit for a portion of the game.
While the games will be heavily featured on the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, the Wii and PS2 versions will contain full 480p support and have all of the same story elements found in the 720p PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. In addition to this, both the Wii and PlayStation 3 will feature exclusive motion sensitive controls. That is all Treyarch will say right now but they have hinted at a bunch of other unique features that could end up being exclusive to one console.

Spider-Man 3 may still be fairly early in development but it is already looking like it will be the first game all Spider-Man fans will want to play this summer. We can’t wait to see more of this one!
