• John Carmack, as noted in our QuakeCon 2011 Coverage, is a “friggin genius.” This guys spouts off phrases that go over 98% of heads in the geekiest of all audiences. Truly one of the smartest and best Programmers ever to grace the videogame industry.
  • We spent some time with RAGE yesterday and my early thoughts are WOW! This game is just amazing. The PR team wants me to spend some additional time before I write my preview. Really expect this game to rock your world when it is released… However, the game is violent and full of all sorts of language. Sorry kids, this one is only for mature audiences.
  • Though RAGE was originally shown off at an Apple Event, it appears that Carmack is slowly backing away from the platform. Sadly, this means that RAGE, on the Mac, may never happen even though it is technically a possibility. I think this is the correct time to use 🙁
  • Gearbox and 2K Games are extremely upset about the recent leak of Borderlands 2. Gearbox’s CEO Randy Pitchford has gone as far to call it “shoddy journalism” on his twitter account. Not sure how breaking the story before your exclusive Game Informer cover makes this shoddy journalism and is just further proof that it is hard to be a real gaming journalist in the current industry. Hopefully, after I have said these words, I will still be allowed to see the game at PAX later this month.
  • There are a lot of reports of anger towards the Blonde Shepard for the upcoming Mass Effect 3. PC Gamer posted an interesting article that you should read. My thoughts? I play a male Shepard so I really could care less. Shepard, to me, is, and always will be, a dude.
  • I packed up my gear for the BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) at QuakeCon 2011. In addition, we are trying out the Psyko 5.1 Surround Sound Headsets. First impressions? WOW! These are some of the best headsets I have ever tried. The sound is amazing and the build quality, with the exception of the non-bending microphone, are second to none. We will have a full review but until then, check them out.
  • We are also scheduled to get our hands on a pair of Gunnar Digital Performance Eyewear. These help reduce eyestrain and make game/text just pop off your monitor.  You can learn more here.
  • I am afraid I am not following much else, at the moment, due to QuakeCon. We will post out regular news should anything “big” be going on out there. Happy Friday!
