After a troubled development period on the original Prey, the franchise has continued to be disappointing to internal sources at Bethesda. In fact, Human Head, the team originally developing Prey 2 was shut down last year and the game seemed to be in limbo. This appears to be over as sources are stating Arkane Studios, fresh off the success with the Dishonored franchise, is taking the Development reigns of Prey 2.

At the same time, the game is starting development from scratch. This means all new assets and a new engine will be used from the title originally in development since 2011.

Pete Hines, head of Bethesda’s PR team, said: “I don’t have a status update on Prey 2.”

The projected release for Prey 2 has been pushed back to 2016. This should make the title appear on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

How would you like to have a third Darksiders game with cooperative play and the final two Horsemen of the Apocalypse? This was the plan Vigil Games had for the final installment of their planned trilogy.

Former Vigil Creative Director, Joe Madureira, had this to say: “It was always our hope to do a full four-player co-op game, with all four Horsemen playable. It’s possible we could have pulled it off. I would have liked to introduce Fury and Strife. I know many fans feel robbed that they never got to play the last two Horsemen.”

Nordic Games now owns the rights to the Darksiders franchise and Vigil has been separated from their IP forever.
