After 2 games, CD Project RED has revealed that Geralt of Rivia story will end in the upcoming Open World title The Witcher 3: WIld Hunt. This time around will be a personal journey to send off everyone’s favorite Witcher in this highly endorsed franchise.

In the Wild Hunt, there are Spectral Warriors that were thought to be nothing more than a legend. However, they strike and totally decimate a village and Geralt of Rivia goes on a quest to find the only survivor to figure out how to go on this “Wild Hunt.”

As we mentioned, The Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt is an open world game. Not only that but it is over 35 times bigger than Witcher 2. Due to the sheer size, there will be a fast travel system in place when you have explored areas before

Our Witcher no longer has issues remembering things. So he now can recall every monster he has ever seen. This is a new ability called The Sense and it helps you determine the type of creature you are going up against. Since each creature is handled in a different way, you will have to use The Sense to look for red highlights and discover how to counter the monster. This is done by tracking him in his habitat.

For example, there was a village with a monster problem and we went looking in the woods for what it was. After searching, we discovered that he was weak to silver, you have to destroy his totems set up in the forest, and there was a host in the local village he would possess unless she was forced to move away. Once this was done, you were able to confront and fighit the monster. If you hadn’t followed these steps, he would have overtaken you.  This is the type of gameplay experience you can expect when encountering some of the bigger monsters in this open world game. There will be around 80 new monsters in Witcher 3.

During your adventures, Geralt will have to make several choices. None of these are particularly black or white. In fact, what appears to be a good choice might end up being the worst possible outcome. It is important to remember that Geralt of Rivia is not a hero. He doesn’t ride in and save the day like what you might do in The Elder Scrolls. You are a Witcher and you kill monsters for hire.

Combat is still being worked on but CD Project RED is committed to adding in new magical signs and crafting a better combat system. People found the original release of The Witcher 2 a bit difficult and they are still not completely satisfied with how the combat system was tweaked in the revision patches that came out for it. How exactly will they fix the combat? What magical signs will we see? They aren’t talking–at least for now.

As it stands, The Witcher 3 is among the best shown at E3 2013. As the first big RPG for the next-generation, we are eager to get our grubby little paws on this one!

ESRB Details: Rated For Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Alcohol

This is an open-world role-playing game in which players assume the role of Geralt, a monster hunter in search of a missing woman. Players explore a war-ravaged world while completing quests and killing enemy soldiers and fantastical creatures (e.g., wraiths, harpies, rock beasts). Characters engage in melee-style combat using swords and other bladed weapons, as well as magical attacks (e.g., blasts of fire, stun spells); combat is highlighted by screams of pain and impact sounds. Large blood-splatter effects occur when enemies are slashed, with some attacks resulting in decapitation or dismemberment. Some cutscenes depict slow-motion decapitations and other gore: an autopsy of a torture victim, rooms with several corpses (e.g., hanging from the ceiling, covered in blood on a bed, naked in a tub). During the course of the game, the central character can engage in sexual activity with prostitutes and female companions. These brief sequences depict females’ breasts and buttocks—sexual moaning sounds can be heard, though the camera cuts away from explicit sexual acts. The game includes a side quest in which Geralt engages in a drinking game; characters are depicted drunk and/or passed out. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “c*nt” can be heard in the dialogue.
