Episode 3 of The Wolf Among Us begins right where Episode 2 left off. I don’t want to spoil anything but Bigby is not very happy and is rushing to try and get the killer, from the first two games, before they gets away. As this is a story in the middle of the planned storyline, it wouldn’t make much sense if things went well. You won’t realize until the very end just how bad things are going for Bigby.

Episode 1 setup the story nicely with awesome action, great choices, and an epic cliffhanger that left you begging for more. Episode 2 brought Bigby into a very dark reality of what the story in The Wolf Among Us would be. Not only dark but also with adult themes that are nowhere near suitable for younger eyes. Episode 3 leaves us with a sense of great urgency. Bigby needs to get the killer before it is too late. There are several decisions that must be made and this starts with where to investigate. In your limited time, players must pick two out of three possible locations to gather the intel needed. Like investigating the real story, this leaves you with a sense of doubt and frantically seeking to make the right decision. An unwanted ally will help you with the last location but their assistance never actually leads to anything in the story.

Due to the large number of choices, players will probably want to replay this story to see how other ways play out. Besides the different locations you can choose, there are lives you can completely ruin and someone you can even choose to kill. I personally won’t consider going back to replay these events until I complete the story. This is because I feel the story is best played with how you tackle it in the first playthrough. You may differ in opinion on this and if you do–I won’t hold it against you.

One of the highlights of this episode is Bigby gets to turn into a full wolf form. This leads us to learn some very important things about the killer, who they work for, and a larger mystery that will play out in the remaining episodes. Gee Kaleb, you are being awful vague here. Yes, yes I am. I do this on purpose to save you from having the episode spoiled for you.

Is Episode 3 the best in the series? No, I still think I enjoyed the first episode the most. However, I am completely hooked on The Wolf Among Us and find the story to be even more captivating than the first season of The Walking Dead. Not even season two of The Walking Dead has been able to get me quite as excited as the adventures of Bigby.

One thing I did find a let down was the game engine. On a very powerful PC, the game slowed down several times during the course of Episode 3. This did not occur in either Episode 1 or 2. Playing the Episode about a week after it was released should have given Telltale time to patch any bugs they planned to. Despite this technical hurdle, I still highly recommend the series and the episode.
